MJCI-Shalom joyfully joined the Igihozo Children Group in Kamonyi District at its Headquaters to celebrate Rwanda’s National Heroes Day (1st Feb2026), an occasion dedicated to honoring values of courage, unity, integrity, and selfless service. The celebration brought together children, community leaders, and MJCI-Shalom representatives in a moment of reflection, inspiration, and shared joy. The event aimed to help children understand that heroism is not only found in history books but is also expressed through everyday choices, hard work, and positive character.

The atmosphere of the celebration was filled with excitement and happiness as children actively participated in songs and dance, testimonies, and discussions. Many children confidently shared how being part of the Igihozo Children Group has positively transformed their lives. They testified that the group has given them a sense of belonging, encouragement, and hope for the future. Through the support and guidance, they receive, children explained how they have learned responsibility, cooperation, and goal setting at a young age.

Several children proudly shared personal achievements made possible through the Igihozo group. Some reported that they were able to buy small livestock such as rabbits, chickens, and pigs, which help them generate income and support their families. Others shared how they can now contribute to their school materials, including notebooks, pens, and uniforms, easing the financial burden on their parents. Beyond material benefits, many children expressed joy in gaining new friends, learning teamwork, and feeling valued within the group. Their testimonies reflected genuine happiness and gratitude, showing how empowerment at an early age can shape confident and responsible citizens.
