MJCI-Shalom: Savings for Life in Ruhango. 
This Group is called Izigamenawe-shalom, it is located in Ruhango district, Ruhango 
Sector Nyamagana Cell and has started in 2018. This group has 28 members that 
meet once a week for their saving activities and share their daily experiences. 

The group  started  as  Umugoroba w'ababyeyi which 
can be translated as an evening of parents. 
When MJCI
Shalom came to this place, 
they were interested and joined 
its programs. With the community, MJCI-Shalom is not only helping the community 
to save money but also working on their social relations and the welfare of the 
family/community. Anitha is the witness for this as she had joined the group and 
now feels more connected to the people around her and valuable in the community. 
This program of savings for life is to help people come together and work together 
as they strive for the welfare of their community. Anitha (a group member) says that 
she took loans from this group and rebuilt her house, she brought electricity and 
water, she bought a land and she is still committed to be an active member of the 
group and call others to join the programs of MJCI-Shalom especially this one of 
savings for life.  
The group leader as well, shows the cow that he bought from the loans that he took 
from the group, he had paid school fees for his son and still supporting the family. 
In general, he says that saving group is helping their community a lot. 
This group has spent all twelve months saving thought it was not easy because of 
covid-19, but they have tried their best to find their weekly social funds to save and 
now, they are sharing out 4 376 786frw. It is a great achievement and they are so 
thankful to MJCI-Shalom for bringing them this program.

MJCI-Shalom is so thankful to the community for accepting this new way of life 
that they were not familiar with and achieve this great goal. It is as well putting much 
emphasis calling them to keep on working hard for the bright future of the family 
and the community in general as one tree cannot make the forest.
